Jonathan joined our employment team in October as our newest law graduate, having just completed his conjoint degree in Law and Commerce from the University of Auckland. Currently completing his professional studies while working part time, he aims to be admitted as a solicitor next year, and move into a full time role with Gaze Burt.
Jonathan has always had an interest in law and feels like it suits his personality and skills well. Having a job where he is able to help people solve problems every day keeps him engaged and motivated. His previous work experience is very broad. He started working in his family’s business from a young age – spending his weekends washing cars – eventually moving into the sales team. Aside from that he has done a lot of other hands on work – working on cars in the workshop, painting houses and commercial buildings, landscaping, and running his own small sign-writing business in his spare time over the last few years.
What does Jonathan love most about his job? “Solving people’s problems and negotiating the best solutions to what are often sensitive and emotional issues is extremely rewarding and gives me a strong sense that I’m making a difference. As far as aspirations go, I love what I do and I don’t want that to change: I want to continue on the path to the top and be the best that I can be at what I love doing. Gaze Burt was my top choice when I was looking for a job out of university, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to be here and so far am loving it.”
When Jonathan is not working or busy with studies, he is spending time with partner Aimee (often cleaning up the destruction puppy Eevee has caused). You can also find him working on his car or motorbike, and getting things done around the house.
