Ruth Katsui joined Gaze Burt in April 2021 as a solicitor on the employment team. Ruth comes from a litigation and immigration background, having previously worked for a boutique multi-lingual firm.
Ruth is bilingual in Japanese, and has spent more than three years in Japan. Her language skills allowed her to build a breadth of legal knowledge through advising Japanese-speaking clients on a range of legal matters.
Ruth specialises in employment law and also practices in the immigration and litigation fields. She advises both employees and employers and has helped many clients to resolve employment disputes through mediation, negotiation, or initiating court proceedings. She has experience filing proceedings and has had appearances in various courts including the Employment Relations Authority, High Court, District Court and Family Court.

Ruth has also assisted clients to successfully immigrate to New Zealand. She has experience with various applications including temporary work visas, employer accreditation, skilled migrant residence visas and investor residence visas.
Ruth is a keen traveller and recently spent 3 months travelling across Europe while working remotely.
