Rodney, an associate in the firm and former partner, has been in practice for over 25 years.
He has acted for public bodies such as the New Zealand 1990 Commission, the former New Zealand Kiwifruit Authority, and the RNZSPCA. He has an interest in public and administrative law.
His practice has an emphasis on the forestry and manufacturing sectors. This includes assisting with selection of industrial sites, obtaining resource consents, negotiating, documenting and implementing property purchases and assisting overseas investors in New Zealand with statutory compliance issues, ranging from initial investment consents to commercial and trade advice.
Rodney specialises in resource management law. He has an interest in resource contracts including electricity pricing and supply contracts, and water contracts. He has advised on coastal occupation licences and resource consents for boating organisations, and provided advocacy to retain public coastal recreation areas. He is involved in obtaining resource consents for sporting, community and church purposes, premises. He also deals with compensation issues arising from government and local body land takings.
In the “not for profit”, field Rodney has personal involvements in church, overseas service, and boating not-for-profit organisations.
He has drawn constitutions to enable the management of church sponsored community counselling and social enterprises.
